Sophia Anderssen
Partner & Principal Lawyer
Sophia brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate approach to her role as a Solicitor at Terry Anderssen Lawyers, where she has been dedicated to helping clients since 2010. With a strong background outside the legal field and training as a Volunteer Accredited Telephone Counsellor with Lifeline, she understands the importance of making clients feel heard and supported throughout their legal journey. Known for her down-to-earth and approachable demeanor, Sophia works across the areas of family law, wills and estates.
Sophia represents clients at every stage of their parenting and financial matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA). Her personal experience navigating the family law courts gives her invaluable insight into the process from both a lawyer’s and a client’s perspective.
This unique understanding allows her to empathise deeply with clients, providing practical support to help them navigate the complexities of the legal system. She also meticulously examines the details of each case, providing tailored advice that aligns with her clients’ unique circumstances. Notably, she has achieved excellent outcomes at interim hearings, successfully securing the return of every child in her recovery order applications.
Sophia also enjoys helping clients with estate planning, including their Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney, as well as guiding them through estate administration for Probate and Letters of Administration after their loved ones have passed.
With a solid reputation for being ethical, honest, and responsive, Sophia is proud to have contributed to a culture of genuine care for clients, a value instilled in her by her father, Terry. She is committed to building a legacy rooted in her values and those of her family—empathy, kindness, and integrity. What truly sets her apart is her dedication to making a meaningful impact on her clients’ lives, working tirelessly to protect their interests while fostering lasting trust.
As a former Director and Non-Executive Director of the Welcome Dinner Project, she has demonstrated her commitment to making a difference in the Australian community. Sophia has also volunteered in migrant shelters in Mexico and provided valuable training on domestic violence prevention and education in Mexico as well as in Australia. Notably, Sophia is a Finalist in the 2024 Lawyer’s Weekly Women in Law Awards, reflecting her exceptional contributions to the legal profession.
When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find Sophia in her garden, experimenting with new DIY projects at home, or enjoying quality time with her husband and children. She has a passion for learning Spanish and values every moment spent with her family.
When you choose to work with Sophia, you can expect dedicated support and a compassionate ally who is passionate about improving your legal experience. Let her guide you through your legal challenges with care and expertise.
